Since 1977 Santa Barbara Beautiful has planted over 10.000 street trees within the City of Santa Barbara through private donations. Our Street Tree program is an ongoing fund-raising effort to improve the quality of life for our unique community. This ongoing cooperative effort by Santa Barbara Beautiful and the City Parks Department has earned Santa Barbara recognition as a "Tree City USA" from the National Arbor Day Foundation  every year since 1980. The growth of the city and the annual loss of trees in an urban environment result in a continuing need for funds to buy and plant new street trees.
